Liverpool’s interest in signing Basel winger Mohamed Salah has intensified after a host of other European clubs have entered the race for the man dubbed “the Egyptian Messi.”

According to METRO Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is a huge fan of the 21-year-old following his progress closely with reports suggesting that the Reds have now made an offer of £9 million after learning that AC Milan, Napoli, Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Monaco have all approached Basel over their star player.

If the offer proves to be successful the Liverpool boss will allow 19-year-old Raheem Sterling to join Swansea after Michael Laudrup suggested that he would be interested in signing the England youngster on loan.

Salah is said to favour a move to Liverpool, and we should know if a deal has been agreed upon by next week.
