According to the Daily Mail Liverpool is making an ambitious move for Ukrainian international winger Yevhen Konoplyanka as Liverpool hope to make a star signing that will help ensure they qualify for Champions League football next season.

The Daily mail is reporting that after having missed out on FC Basel’s Mohamed Salah Liverpool has turned their attention to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger Yevhen Konoplyanka who gained a lot of attention from scouts following his displays against Roy Hodgeson’s England during World Cup qualifying.

If Liverpool can get a deal done in the next couple of days they could end up paying as much as £20 million for a man who can effectively operate outside, or take his game right down the middle of the pitch.

Rodgers has been trying his best to bring a marquee signing to the club after first trying to sign Henrikh Mykhitaryan only to see the Armenian sign for Borussia Dortmund instead.

He then switched his attention to Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa but got nowhere before losing out on Brazilian midfielder Willian to Chelsea and now Salah also to the Blue’s.

24-year-old Konoplyanka is indeed a world-class player having represented his country 35 times and would prove to the Kopites that Liverpool is serious about that top-four finish.
