LIVERPOOL have been linked with a £12million January move for CSKA Moscow star Keisuke Honda.

The Japan international has entered the final year of his contract with the Russian club and is thought to be eyeing the exit door.

The 26-year-old was close to joining Lazio during the summer, but the Italian club were unable to meet CSKA’s asking price.

Honda has endured a tough time this season, with his coach publicly criticising the midfielder’s performances.

But Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is likely to believe he can coax the playmaker back to his best.

Honda was one of the stars of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and was also voted player of the tournament at the 2011 Asian Cup.
