Andy Brassell: “If there’s anything that might convince Zenit St Petersburg to let Hulk go to Tottenham, it would be the arrival of a top-quality replacement.

“Respected journalist Artur Petrosyan says on his Twitter account that a delegation from Russia’s richest club have arrived in Kiev in an attempt to broker a move for Dynamo winger Andriy Yarmolenko, who has also sparked the interest of Liverpool.

“Hulk would be keen to work with Andre Villas-Boas again, but the tricky part in any deal has always been the Brazilian’s wages.

“He is reported to earn £8.5m per season gross, which works around £7.4m take home with Russia’s low level of top-rate tax. Spurs would need to pay Hulk £13.5m just to match that.”
