Erik Lamela

Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, along with other Italian news outlets are reporting what they describe as a Tottenham hell for the Argentinean international whose agent Pablo Sabbag is arriving in Rome later today to try and arrange a loan deal for his player.

Despite having a fantastic season for AS Roma, Lamela has not been able to settle into life in the Premiership with former manager Andre Villas-Boas leaving him on the bench, something that seems to be continuing under new manager Tim Sherwood leading to all the talk in Italy of a return to the Serie A.

Inter Milan is said to be keen on either a loan or the possibility of a permanent move but the Nerazzurri would not be willing to pay the amount of wages Lamela currently earns or the selling price Daniel Levy would be asking for his most expensive summer buy that cost the club £30 million.

If you look at the facts Spurs might be willing to go out on loan till the end of the season if they can find a club willing to cover most of Lamela’s wages but it seems highly unlikely that they could recoup the price they paid which makes it all the more likely that he will stay at Spurs at least for now.
