ARSENE WENGER is desperate for Theo Walcott to sign a new deal.

The Arsenal boss wants the hat-trick hero of Tuesday’s amazing 7-5 comeback success in the Capital One Cup at Reading firmly tied to the Gunners.

Walcott, 23, is in the final year of his contract and snubbed a £75,000-a-week offer in August.

Wenger said: “I always said I want to keep him. Apart from the contract talks we have to give him credit for the way he is committed to the team and the way he behaves.”

The Gunners boss has already warned he wants the saga resolved by the end of November.

And asked whether Walcott’s man-of-the-match display at Reading will bump up the club’s contract offer, the Gunners boss paused before saying: “I will speak to my finance minister.”
