ROBERTO DI MATTEO insists that he never considered giving shamed Chelsea skipper John Terry a Euro break.
JT, serving a four-game FA ban for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand, will return to the Blues defence for tomorrow’s Champions League clash at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Boss Di Matteo said: “It’s been a delicate issue and we are going to continue working with the authorities to eradicate discrimination.
“The board has made its decision now and we can focus on our football — but keep in mind we have responsibilities to keep working towards a more respectful world.
“Did I think about giving Terry a complete break? No.”
JT served the first game of his ban as Chelsea won 4-2 at Spurs on Saturday. But midfielder Juan Mata will be delighted to see Terry return in the Ukraine.
He said: “For me and for the team-mates talking about him, he is always a legend.
“I am really happy to train and play with him. He’s a really good guy.”
