Real Madrid star Angel di Maria put in a Man of the Match performance to help his club win the Champions League last Saturday in Lisbon with a 4-1 win over city rivals Atletico.

Since the arrival last summer of Gareth Bale for a world record £86 million everyone in the footballing world has been expecting the Argentinian winger to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer with the 26-year-old now telling Spanish sports newspaper MARCA that his future at the club remains uncertain.

“I am not going to lie, I know that there are clubs that want to sign me and can match Real Madrid’s demands,” Di Maria told MARCA.

“But that’s up to my representatives and the club. I will stay if the club wants me to stay.

“I am not thinking about my future now. We will see what Madrid have in mind, whether they want me to stay or leave.

“I am happy at Madrid. I had a great season and always had everybody’s support.

“But sometimes you don’t have a choice, even when you want to stay yourself.”

Premiership sides that are showing an interest in the 26-year-old include Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United with new manager Louis van Gaal known to be a big fan of wingers.

It is not just the Premier League either with Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco also seen as possible destinations following this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
