Behind the English Premier League Goal Numbers

Favourit has broken down the goalscoring facts and figures into an easy-to-understand infographic – which will be updated weekly on their blog – steering you in the right direction. Did you know that just over 50 percent of the 140 matches played have seen both teams find the back of the net, and 73 games have been highly-entertaining affairs, with over 2.5 goals scored.

Stoke are the side that have not lit the League alight with their goal performances, with 11 of their matches ending in under 2.5 goals scored. West Brom follow just behind, and a trio of sides just after that.

This is in strong contrast to Leicester City, which has seen ten of their games on the opposite side of the ledger. Which other sides have turned it on this term?

Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes are the surprise packets of the EPL season. The club has netted in every one of their matches.

Star striker Jamie Vardy broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s longstanding consecutive goalscoring record over the weekend, and it has been the hitman’s 14th goal this term – along with the influence of Riyad Mahrez – that has lifted the team into Champions League contention.

Just as Manchester United kicked Leicester from top spot back in October 2000, they did it once again last weekend, and Manchester City capitalised, returning to the top of the EPL standings. But for how long?

With only two points separating the top four sides, December looms as the month that could determine the standings for the remainder of the season.

Arsenal and Man City will meet in several weeks time at the Emirates in what is regarded as a ‘six-point’ encounter, while Leicester and Man United face a tough two months of fixtures.
