Chelsea is preparing a bid for Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller as Blues boss Jose Mourinho starts to lose his patience with Diego Costa.

The current Premier League champions will not allow Spaniard, Costa to escape blame free after his bib throwing tantrum at White Hart Lane on Sunday, and could now find himself being replaced by Manchester United target Thomas Muller despite Louis van Gaal having singled the German out for a place at Old Trafford.

German World Cup star Lothar Matthaus is however warning Muller to steer clear of the Premier League saying: “He does not need Manchester United or Chelsea. “Barcelona perhaps could use him, but I do not know whether he can deal with their game.

“My opinion is that he should definitely stay at Bayern for his lifetime.

“He started his professional career at Bayern and I think he should end his career here. He does not need any new challenge as he is always playing at the highest level every year at Bayern.”

Chelsea meanwhile have a number of options for either the January or summer transfer windows and are being strongly linked with a move for West Brom’s Saido Berahino, while also scouting Shakhtar Donetsk forward Alex Teixeira as well as Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.
