ARSENE WENGER could be heading for another club versus country row over Jack Wilshere.

The Arsenal midfielder may be ruled out of England’s end-of-season friendlies if he needs a minor ankle op.

Wilshere, 21, missed 16 months with an ankle injury and returned on Saturday after five weeks out following more problems around the same area.

Gunners physios will monitor him for the rest of the season before making a decision on surgery. This would see him miss England’s Wembley clash with the Republic of Ireland on May 29 and the trip to Brazil on June 2.

Wenger has already clashed with England chief Roy Hodgson after Wilshere played all 90 minutes of February’s friendly with Brazil.

Wenger said: “I do not want a vicious circle again when I play him, play him, play him then suddenly…”
