Mario Balotelli

Despite the transfer window being closed many clubs are putting together a list of who they would like to sign in the summer which has a rumour in Italy suggesting Arsenal are going to make a large bid for Italian bad boy Mario Balotelli.

You would think that after all the headlines the headlines that the 23-year-old has made over the last few years that he would be exactly the type of player that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would not even consider for a minute, but you would be mistaken for thinking that!

Take away the problems he has had in the past and what you have is a young powerful striker with all the technical ability and goals scoring prowess to go along with it, which makes him exactly the type of player  the 64-year-old Wenger would like to turn into one of the world’s best strikers.

Despite all the headlines about his new haircut and the fact he was seen crying on the bench after having been substituted he has still managed to score 13 times in 26 games for AC Milan this season.

The only question I have in my mind is whether or not he can be moulded into the type of player we all know he is capable off and if we can put aside his problematic behaviour as being just youthful exuberance the Italian could become a legend at Arsenal.

My gut feeling on this is to try and sign him as soon as the transfer window opens because if he has a good World Cup his price will go up considerably, and should he not deliver on all his potential he is still young enough to sell on to another club, therefore I think it is a gamble Arsenal should be willing to take.
