Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and Carl Jenkinson have signed long-term deals at Arsenal.

Midfielder Wilshere, 20, who returned in October after 15 months out injured, has signed until 2018.

The other four players have committed to between four and five further years.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said on Monday: “We hope we will be capable of building a team around the young English players.”

He added: “I believe we have a good core of young English players.”

Wenger is hopeful that Theo Walcott will join the five players by committing his future to the club.
