Mattia De Sciglio has made it clear that AC Milan are ready to take advantage of any Napoli slip-ups as they target second spot in the Serie A table.

The Rossoneri currently sit third in the standings, trailing second-placed Napoli by five points, but the young defender has not given up his hopes of finishing the season as runners-up.

“We need to concentrate 100 per cent on the game against Genoa on Friday so that we have an advantage over those who play on Saturday and Sunday,” De Sciglio was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“We will obviously try to take advantage of any slip-ups by Napoli.”

The 20-year-old then went on to stress that he is happy to play in whatever position the coach needs him after Massimiliano Allegri shifted him from the right flank to the left.

“My transformation from a right-back to a left-back is good because on the left I can cut inside and shoot with my right.

“I like playing on both flanks and I am willing to do what the coach requires. I always try to do my best regardless of the position.”

De Sciglio has made 19 Serie A appearances for Milan so far this term.
