MAN City, Everton, Barry, transfer,

Bookmakers have slashed the odds on Manchester City’s Gareth Barry moving to Everton after significant amounts of money came into play Friday evening.

SkyBet have slashed their odds going from 40/1 to 1/3 after a previously stagnant bet saw a sharp increase of money betting that the City player would be heading to Goodison Park.

Barry managed 27 starts for the Citizens last season, but has come under pressure for a starting berth since the arrival of £30 million Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho.

Barry now 32-years-of-age had featured in City’s pre-season games, but missed their last friendly in which they suffered a 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

According to SkyBet trader Chris Spicer: “It struck us as fairly strange to be seeing such a run of bets on a market which had previously captured little interest.

“However, with Marouane Fellaini odds-on to leave Everton for Manchester United, Barry could be seen as short-term cover, so a loan move certainly makes some sense, especially given the competition for places in the middle of the park at City.”
