With Southampton holding midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin likely to be unavailable in January, and Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho priced too high Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will go after St Etienne captain Loic Perrin during the January transfer window.

Perrin plays as centre-back or defensive midfielder, but on occasion has also played on the right of midfield.

The 29-year-old would only cost the Gunners around £6 million, and his ability to play as a full-back or as a midfielder would certainly be an option that would appeal to Wenger.

Plus his experience would also be a big plus as Arsenal prepares to play Monaco in the Champions League, a club that Perrin will be familiar with.
