Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is thought to have £65 million available for new players, and has signalled the fact that the club are desperate for another striker currently solely depending on Olivier Giroud as a lone front man.

Buoyed by the impact that German international Mesut Özil has had on the team since his £42, 5 million signing from Real Madrid in the summer the Arsenal boss is considering going back to Özil’s old club and picking up French international Karim Benzema in an attempt to win some long overdue silverware.

Benzema had been linked to the north London club before moving from Lyon to Spain, and now that it looks like the Spanish giants might be willing to sell their under achieving goal scorer Wenger is once again interested feeling that perhaps he can get the Frenchman to start scoring once again.

Benzema seems to have fallen out of favour at the Santiago Bernabéu with club president Florentino Perez thinking that Benzema is not hungry to score goals, and does not have what the Perez calls the killer instinct.

The Arsenal boss is thought to have £30 million he is willing to spend on Benzema, but a lot will depend on whether real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to find a new striker for Los Blancos with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez a possible candidate.
