Dutch national team coach Louis van Gaal is waiting on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to sign a new contract at the Emirates before committing himself to either Spurs or Manchester United according to the Sunday People.
Up until a few days ago it was assumed that a deal had been struck between the Dutchman and Tottenham after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy travelled to the Netherlands to speak to the 62-year-old former Barcelona, Bayern and Ajax coach.
This all changed on Saturday following reports out of Holland suggesting the van Gaal had met with representatives of Manchester United in a secret location and that present in the meeting was a member of the Glazer family that own the club.
A United spokesman later said: “No such meeting took place.”
Now with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger having not yet signed a new contract with Arsenal the shrewd Dutchman is hedging his bets while hoping to negotiate a more lucrative contract with whatever club he eventually signs for.
