Spanish sports daily Marca is claiming today that Manchester United is still trying to sign Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi after Real Madrid centre-back played the Northwest club like a cheap violin before getting Los Blanco’s to offer him a new bumper contract to remain in Madrid.

And its not only United who are interested in the Argentinian international with rivals Manchester City having also expressed a growing interest in the 27-year-old in recent days.

According to Marca, “The feeling right now is that the Argentine will soon pack his bags and head to the Premier League.”

The reason a deal has yet to be done for the in demand defender is because Valencia has put a 50€ million buyout clause in his contract, and has so far stuck to their guns.

Marca however claim that it could be about to change as the transfer window winds down saying Los Che’s could be willing to lower the fee to 40€ million.
