Tottenham are desperate to sign Aston Villa's Christian Benteke and have offered numerous players as part of a possible deal.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Scott Parker, Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone have all been told their future at White Hart Lane is uncertain and are available for transfer.

Aston Villa are only interested in a cash offer, however the central midfielders named could be exactly what Villa need.

Benteke handed in a transfer request at Villa Park on Monday and the news has alerted the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, however Tottenham are still favourites.

After signing for Aston Villa last summer, Benteke had a superb breakthrough season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions, however he feels his future is away from the club.

The allure of the Premier League's elite sides appears to be too much for Benteke, however a move ahead of a World Cup year is a gamble.

Of the three interested, at Spurs would he be only assured of consistent first-team football.

Although Arsenal are desperate for a forward, they have been heavily linked with Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez and if one of them and Benteke arrived, he'd struggle to get in the side.

Spurs news

Tottenham's move to sign the Croatian duo of Alen Halilovic and Tin Jedvaj appears to have collapsed.

Spurs and Dinamo Zagreb had agreed a combined fee for the pair, however reportedly the duo wanted more than Spurs were willing to offer.

Both players now look set for a move to Italian side Roma.
