Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech will be called upon to bring his A-Game to the Allianz Arena when Arsenal takes on Bayern Munich Wednesday night knowing that if they can manage to come away with a share of the points that it will be enough to propel them to the knockout stage of the Champions League.

The 33-year-old former Chelsea goalkeeper has kept six clean sheets out of 11 league matches for Arsenal this term including their latest 3-0 over Swansea City at the weekend.

Gunners defender Per Mertesacker believes that Cech is the reason why Arsenal is flying so high in the league and could be the man who ultimately helps them win the title.

‘You know that if they get a really clear chance, Petr can do something about it,’ he said after the Swansea match.

‘He’s someone who can save your day. That gives everyone a big lift, not only the back four.

‘The way he is commanding and vocal makes him vital. He is one of our leaders and he deserves it.

‘He has played at a high level and he is still very hungry and, no matter how successful he was at Chelsea, I think he gives our team the hunger we maybe need.

‘He is an experienced player that everyone looks up to and he’s important for our structure as well.’
