The Ox thinks that competition for places will benefit England

Arsenals Oxlade-Chamberlin is back in Roy Hodgeson’s England squad for the match against Denmark on Wednesday night after being side-lined with injury for the past five months

England boss Hodgeson selected a 30-man squad for the friendly which will be England’s last before Hodgeson must pick his 23-man squad to join him on the flight to Brazil for the World Cup.

The Arsenal player believes that competition for a place will push his England teammates to perform telling TalkSport:

“It’s very competitive and I think that’s the beauty of it,” said the Arsenal forward.

“The more competition for places there is the better the level of performance will be for each player.

“You’ve got to be right at it in the remaining games until the World Cup. We’ve got to be at the top of our game to earn and deserve a place on the plane to Brazil.

“I’m sure the manager will be thinking the same way, he needs to see all of his options and that will help him make the right decisions for the team.”
