Now that we know Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has retired from football to become a pundit for Sky Sports former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has called the signing of Thierry Henry by Arsenal as the greatest ever deal Wenger made calling it a masterstroke by the French manager.

Before joining the Gunners for £11 million in August 1999 Henry was a struggling winger playing for Serie A side Juventus before becoming one of the greatest players in Arsenal history.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show Parlour said: “It was definitely one of Wenger’s best ever deals. He got rid of [Nicolas] Anelka and brought in Henry and paid for a new training ground!”
