After having already qualified for the last-16 of the Champions League Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that star player Alexis Sanchez will not travel with the rest of the team for Tuesday night’s match against Galatasaray in Istanbul.

Despite the chance of possibly clinching top spot in group D Wenger has decided he would prefer to rest key players.

Along with the Gunners Chilean star Wenger could also rest defender Laurent Koscielny who did not take part in last weekend’s 3-2 loss to Stoke City.

“A few players [will not travel] because there’s not a lot at stake and we have given a lot in the last two weeks,” he told the Daily Star.

“We have to recover a little bit.

“Alexis will not travel and I don’t think I can play, for example, Koscielny. He didn’t play on Saturday and I don’t see why I should risk him for a game where’s there’s not a lot at stake.

“First place hypothetically, but there’s maybe a 10 per cent chance.”
