Rio Ferdinand

METRO is reporting that Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is set to leave Old Trafford in the summer to play in the MLS with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Ferdinand’s contract is up with United next summer and despite the Red Devils being prepared to offer him one more year Ferdinand  is willing to reject that and move to America.

The MLS seems to be the last step before retirement for many big name Premiership players except for David Beckham who returned to Europe for a season at Paris Saint Germain.

The latest Premier league star to move to North America is Tottenham’s Jermain Defoe who just signed a deal that will see him play for Toronto FC.

The 35-year-old Ferdinand is thought to have already been in touch with the California club who are expected to make the former England captain the offer of a two year contract.
