Arsene Wenger desperately needs to bring in a new striker in January if the Gunners are to keep up their challenge for the Premier League title even more so now following the recent injuries to Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott.

While Athletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has been the man mentioned as a possible front man, Arsenal would face stiff opposition from Manchester United now that is has been reported that Moyes has been given a war chest to help ensure that United qualify for the Champions league.

Following Arsenal’s failure to land Gonzalo Higuain last summer, they turned their attention to his fellow Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema who despite being a little one dimensional has been playing well for Los Blancos this season and looks tailor made for the physical aspect of the Premier League.

Lately Jese Rodriguez has been gaining more fans at the Santiago Bernabéu, and while not yet having started a match has come off the bench ten times to score twice while providing three assists which are similar stats to Argentinean Angel Di Maria.

Following Jese’s impact against Celta Vigo  after being brought on in Monday nights “Three Kings” win in which he provided and assist in one of the three goals Coach Carlo Ancelotti told the clubs official website realmadrid.com: Jesé may be one of the most important players at the moment, even if he doesn’t play from the beginning. When the other team are tired, putting on player a skilful is more important than doing so from the beginning”.

The rise in Jese’s fortunes at Real Madrid could open the way for Arsene Wenger to sign Alvaro Morata on a season long loan after the Spanish U-21 player has only made one La Liga start this season.

While a loan move would help solve some of Wengers problems right now signing a player like Benzema would show to the fans and every other club in the Premiership that Arsenal means business.
