Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao has opened the door for a possible move to Chelsea after taking to Facebook to deny rumours linking him with Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon.

The 27-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu with former trainer Carlo Ancelotti preferring to start Brazilian Marcello at left-back, leading to talk that after spending four-seasons in Madrid he was ready to move on.

The Portuguese’s international would have no problem being reunited with former boss Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, and perhaps with that in mind he was eager to quash talk of him returning to play in Portugal for Sporting.

‘Contrary to rumours that I will play for Sporting, and despite the respect I have for club, the only Portuguese club for me is Benfica,’ Coentrao posted on Facebook.
