Just a couple of weeks ago it appeared as if a deal for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan was done and dusted by Manchester United and that the World Cup winner was on his way to Old Trafford.

Fast-forward a couple of weeks and it now seems as though Champions League winners Barcelona is winning the race to sign the 24-year-old midfielder with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu eager to see a deal completed before the upcoming elections.

The big decision is whether or not to take him to Barcelona now where he will only be able to play for the reserves before a transfer ban is lifted in January, or whether he will be allowed to stay and play for Dortmund up to the winter break.
