RAFAEL DA SILVA admits being apart from brother Fabio is the best thing for both of them.

The Manchester United twins were impossible to separate or tell apart at Old Trafford.

Now Fabio is on loan at QPR and Rafael — younger by 10 minutes — is blossoming this season.

Rafael said: “It’s been a good experience. At first I was sad but it’s made me grow up a lot. I’ve had to become more responsible.

“Those first few weeks were really tough. In 22 years we’d hardly been away from each other.

“Now we don’t see each other too much, although we speak on the phone every day.”

Rafael has started silencing some of his doubters with his performances this season.

And he admits knowing when to make a forward run or dive into a challenge is the difference.

He said: “I’m making more correct decisions. That comes from experience and playing regularly.

“Everybody still thinks of me as this teenage boy who’s only just arrived at the club. But I’m 22 and a father now — I’m not a kid any more.”
