Having been starved of playing time at the Emirates, many thought that German international and World Cup winning striker Lukas Podolski would be leaving the club in January after being tired of sitting on the bench.
The 29-year-old forward got his chance to impress last night in Istanbul after manager Arsene Wenger decided he would rest Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez while taking an under strength squad to Turkey knowing that the club had already qualified for the knock out stage of the Champions League.
Podolski took the opportunity to show the 65-year-old Wenger that he was wrong to keep him on the bench by scoring two goals, something that did not go amiss during Wengers later press conference that you can watch below.
