If reports in the last one week after anything to go by, Liverpool may be missing out on the chance to sign high rated Barca second choice goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen as the player is said to have agreed personal terms with Manchester City ahead of a summer move to White Hart Lane. The high rated German was said to be a target for Liverpool manager who wants him as a competition/replacement for fumbling Liverpool first choice goalkeeper Simon Migolet.

Migolet hasn’t been consistent ever since joining Liverpool and his inconsistency has said to put Klopp off who is now in the market for a replacement Goalkeeper with Marc-André ter Stegen the former Dortmund manager’s first choice.

Unfortunately Manchester City have won the race for the player if reports in the media are to be believed. Manchester City are said to be ready to pay £25 million to sign Ter Stegen who will be a competition for current first choice Joe Hart. Should the report be true, Ter Stegen will be the second German player to choose the Citizens ahead of Liverpool.

Liverpool were linked to the signing of Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan but according to reports, the German is on his way to Manchester City to team up with Pep Guardiola who will take over the managment of Man city from Manuel Pellergin in the summer.

With Ter Stegen set to sign a five years contract with City ( if the reports are true thats ), it remains to be seen who Liverpool will sign. One thing is certain, if Liverpool want to compete for the title next season or at least aim to finish among the top four, they need another goalkeeper. Migolet’s inconsistency is not going to help the reds.

One player I am surprised Liverpool are not trying to sign is Stoke City’s Jack Butland. The young English international is one of the best goalkeepers in the league. And should Liverpool be interested in signing him, I am sure he will gladly leave Stoke City to join the reds and for £20 million, Stoke are very likely to sell.
