Mesut Ozil is enjoying life at Real Madrid and has made it clear that he feels honoured to be part of the Santiago Bernabeu side.

The Germany international joined Madrid from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2010 and has since developed into a key player for los Blancos.

“I am very proud to be playing for Real Madrid,” the attacking midfielder told the official Besiktas Channel, before going on to praise head coach Jose Mourinho.

“It is not easy to be part of the starting XI at Madrid, but Mourinho has been a great support for me. It is very pleasant to work with him. To me, he is one of the best coaches in the world.”

Ozil also took the time to discuss the upcoming second leg of Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final against Galatasaray and stressed that Cimbom should not be underestimated.

“We have a great opportunity to make it to the semi-finals, but it will not be easy. Galatasaray play at home and all their fans will be behind them. We have to believe in ourselves and play our own game.”

Madrid recorded a 3-0 win in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu last week.
