As I pointed out in an article last week on the use of PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) by not only cyclists but other athletes who were looking to gain an edge on the competition when I wrote about the Fuentes trial and the doping scandal set to rock Spanish soccer little did I know that PED’s would be in the news yet again.

This time as a possible defense for Paralympian Oscar Pistoruis following the discovery of drugs said to include steroids that are believed to be testosterone and blood oxygen capsules.

(Oxygen capsules help to increase the red blood cell count while delivering extra oxygen to the muscles).

These along with syringes and ampoules were found in a bedroom draw at the Athletes house had South African detectives force Pistorius to provide them with a blood and urine sample.

Speculation in the press suggests that a temper frenzy brought on by the use of the drugs caused a “roid rage” that could possibly have played a part in Pistorius shooting and killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

(Roid rage is a term given to people who act in very aggressive or hostile manner after taking large doses, usually on a regular basis, of anabolic steroids, sometimes nicknamed as roids).

The gold medal winning Paralympian has never once tested positive for drug use while competing yet neither did any of the 740 soccer players at the last World Cup.

Fuentes at his trial admitted that 30% of his clients were cyclists the question remains who are the other 70% that the Spanish authorities want the doctor not to talk about?

You can be sure that we have not heard the last of this story and that some big name stars that cannot be mentioned for fear of liable will surface one day.
