manchester united,

How long is it going to take before someone at Old Trafford actually decides to drop Wayne Rooney from the team, when it is obvious to all of us watching that the once mighty striker is past his sell by date.

Louis van Gaal did not hesitate when it came to getting rid of fellow Dutchman Robin van Persie, but there seems to be an issue when it comes to the Red Devils captain.

OK we all know that United’s chief executive Ed Woodward has a thing for Rooney and his accomplishments at the club, but the £300,000 per-week he is getting paid in wages could be better spent elsewhere.

No one player is bigger than the club, which means now, is the time to cash in while they can still get a decent fee for the 30-year-old and bring in a younger, hungrier player that wants to make a name for himself rather than keeping a star whose best days are long gone.
