The president of Napoli football club Aurelio de Laurentiis has let it be known that star striker Gonzalo Higuain is for sale.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United had been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, yet neither club is yet to put a concrete bid in given the fact his buyout clause is a whopping £64.7 million.

“Sell Higuain for €90 million (£64.7m)? I’d like to sell him,” he said.

“That way I can buy eight players for the club.”

The Argentinian international would like to leave Italy, and is disappointed at not being able to play Champions League football next season after Napoli failed to qualify.

Currently Manchester United is the bookmaker’s favourites to sign the prolific goal-scorer having watched Higuain find the back of the net 53 times in 102 appearances for the Serie A club.

Saying this however, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the Argentinian trying to sign him from Real Madrid in 2013, before he finally moved to Italy for a fee of around £29,000.

Currently his price is too high to attract any serious interest from the Premiership duo, but should de Laurentis let it be known he is willing to listen to offers around £50 million you might start to see things begin to move.
