José Rodríguez is the new jewel in Real Madrid’s crown. It has taken the youth team player little more than 156 minutes to become the great ‘white’ hope. And the club wants to keep hold of him.

Real Madrid has taken steps to ensure it doesn’t let the promising seventeen year old slip through its fingers. Arsenal’s interest in the lad raised his profile and led Real to sign him for Castilla, the reserve team, which in turn led to his playing for the first eleven.

The buyout clause in José Rodríguez’s contract currently stands at €12 million, an amount Real Madrid wants to increase substantially in order to prevent the whizz-kid from leaving the nest.

The club is well aware of José Rodríguez’s potential and doesn’t want to repeat the mistake it made with other players such as Mata, who is currently triumphing at Chelsea, the current title holders of the Champions League and the FA Cup.

In spite of the limited minutes has played so far, José Rodríguez has already given us a taste of what he is capable of. What’s more, Mourinho has taken to him like he was his own son. The Real Madrid manager has given him the chance to make his debut in la Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, and José Rodríguez has been training with Real Madrid’s first team since Monday of last week.
