With different reports and criticism coming from many, Manchester United Assistant manager, Ryan Giggs insists the club has not and will never abandon their tradition of training and developing youth players.

On the wake of the sale of Danny Welbeck to Arsenal, there have been lot of criticism about the transfer but the former Manchester United midfielder believes the team will continue to produce more youth players and promote them to the first team and the exit of Welbeck will not change their philosophy.

Danny Welbeck is a product of Manchester United Academy and the 23-year-old England international swapped Old Trafford for the Emirates Stadium on transfer deadline day in a £16 million move with Colombian striker Radamel Falcao effectively replacing him on the deadline day in a season long loan deal.

The Welsh man who was also a graduate of the academy in Old Trafford confirmed it’s sad to see an academy product leave the club after so much improvement and particularly a player who has been with the club from the start of his career but reiterated that it will not affect the club’s tradition of promoting youth players.

In his comment, the assistant manager of Manchester United also mentioned that the manager is one that gives opportunities to young players and he has proven that with the production of Clarence Seedorf, Patrick Kluivert, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Thomas Muller.

Tyler Blackett, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj have all been given game time this season and James Wilson has also moved up the ranks.

Supporting Giggs, former midfielder, Nicky Butt also confirmed the club’s philosophy will never be neglected as promoting youth players is still their eventual plan.

The former England international also added that the manager’s proven record of success will help the players as he also made it clear that the club’s ambition of getting back to the top is of priority presently and it will definitely take the lead above other projects.

Another former Manchester United player, Phil Neville commented during the Soccerex conference in Manchester stating it was a good move for Danny Welbeck and also rejected the claim that Manchester United has left their philosophy.

He added that home grown players will have to leave the club at some point in their careers if they are to move forward making mention of himself, Wes Brown, John O’Shea and many others.

The issue on Danny Welbeck sale to Arsenal may have been painful to cope with but so much has been attached to it.

Arsenal lost Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song at a point, but there was life after them.

Welbeck is not even in the first three in Manchester United attack and keeping him will mean he gets little game time.

The manager and coaching crew have done well in letting him go but he would have commanded a higher transfer fee or even go on loan if need be. In all, Danny is gone and there will definitely be another hotshot soon.
