Leighton Baines

Former Manchester United managers Sir Alex Ferguson failed to sign the Everton left-back in 2012 while current manager David Moyes failed to sign his former player last summer.

It now appears that it is third time lucky for United with the England international willing to move clubs for £16 million during the January transfer window.

Moyes sees Baines as a replacement for Patrice Evra who is expected to move back to his native France in the summer, and the United manager has decided that the 29-year-old Baines is the perfect replacement to fill the left-back position.

Baines is currently giving Ashley Cole a run for his money with the England squad rivalling the Chelsea man for a starting spot in next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Another plus point for United if they sign Baines is that the Everton defender will be eligible to play in the Champions League for the Red Devils.
