Recently Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal made inquiries into Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, after considering the Slovenian international to be a suitable replacement for David De Gea should the 24-year-old Spaniard decide he wants to move back to Madrid.

The 30-year-old Slovenian international has just one-year remaining on his contract with the Serie A club leading LVG to believe that United would be able to sign him for around £15 million.

Now according to Handanovic’s agent Federico Pastorello all the talk of a move to Old Trafford is just rubbish and that his client is ready to commit his future to the Italians.

Pastorello said: “These are only rumours and media speculation.

“Nothing is true with regard to the Red Devils, I’ve never talked to them. I can rule out then, Samir going to Old Trafford, though of course the transfer market is unpredictable.

“Obviously interest from other clubs gives us pleasure, but Samir wants to win with Inter. Negotiations continue, and the final OK is close.

“Maybe a 90 per cent chance is a little high, but the chances are very high.

“Of course, everyone wants to play in the Champions League, that’s normal. Samir wants to achieve that goal with Inter though, even if the last few seasons have not been particularly happy.

“If Samir reaches the agreement, he could end his career at Inter.”
