Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to stun his Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho by making a £60 million offer for Blues striker target Edinson Cavani.

Van Gaal is deadly serious about his desire to win the Premiership next season, and sees the 28-year-old Uruguayan international as the perfect man to partner Wayne Rooney in the Red Devils attack.

This certainly looks like the right time for Cavani to leave Paris Saint-Germain following a bust up with trainer Laurent Blanc, and with clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all looking to sign a top striker this summer is the perfect opportunity.

The trouble with Cavani is his huge wage demand of £300,000 per-week, but United would have no problem meeting that after having let £265,000 per-week Falcao leave and the £250,000 per-week Robin van Persie looking like he will join Juventus LVG has plenty of money for wages at his disposal.

Chelsea may balk at getting in such a high bidding war with the Red Devils which for us here at Soccer Transfers makes us believe Blues boss Mourinho could do the deal of the summer and get Falcao from Monaco for a cut price with the Colombian also willing to lower his wage demands.
