Last summer Liverpool paid Southampton £20 million for Croatian international defender Dejan Lovren, yet he never lived up to his hefty price tag and could now find himself leaving Anfield after just one season.

Much however relies on his fellow countryman Slaven Bilic taking over at Upton Park, should the 46-year-old manager be offered Sam Allardyce’s old job at West Ham.

At the moment it is looking very much on the cards, and should it happen Bilic will try and offer Lovren an escape route out of Merseyside.

The price he is willing to pay will be less than the £20 million Liverpool gave Southampton, but it could prove tempting for Liverpool to cut their losses and move on.
