Incoming Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has added the name of Barcelona striker Alexis Sánchez to his list of players the new Red Devils boss wants to see at Old Trafford when he takes over after the World Cup according to the Guardian.

Van Gaal is a big admirer of the Chilean international who he will get to watch play first-hand when Holland take on Chile in their Group B qualifier on Monday June 23rd in the Arena Corinthians, São Paulo.

If United decide to go after the £20 million rated forward it could spell the exit of a couple of players that could include Nani, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Shinji Kagawa, plus possibly the strikers Javier Hernández and Danny Welbeck.

Van Gaal most often likes to play a 4-3-3 which means he only needs one dedicated striker placing the attack on two fast wingers similar to what he did with Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben while he was the boss of Bayern Munich.

Sánchez fits the type of profile van Gaal like and at 25-years-old is coming into the peak of his game having already played in one World Cup, won La Liga and played in the Champions League with a star-studded team that included Lionel Messi, Andrés Iniesta and Xavi.

Should United ad him and some of the other players van Gaal has on his list they will be back up with the top teams in the Premiership next season.
