Manchester United scouts have been seen at the Vicente Calderón Stadium where they are apparently watching Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez ahead of a possible summer transfer.

Niguez, who is simply known as Saul in Spain has been impressive this season for Atletico after having returned from a loan spell at fellow Madrid, based team Rayo Vallecano.

METRO is today running a story that claims United chief scout Jim Lawlor was on hand to watch the 24-year-old in action against Bayer Leverkusen last week, and despite seeing him limp off the pitch at halftime the Red Devils are interested in bringing him to Old Trafford during the summer.

Saul has a £17.4 million buyout clause in his contract with Los Colchoneros, and recently signed with super-agent Jorge Mendes who retains close ties with the Northwest club.
