Manchester United are preparing a January move to Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, a player that has been talked about as the Xavi, and with the Barcelona star now 33-years-old it has got the Catalan giants also considering making an off for one of Spain’s bright new talents.

The Spanish international was one of Sir Alex Fergusons targets when he was in charge of United but now it will be up to new man Moyes to see if he can bring him to the Premiership.

The 21-yeat-old Koke is having a banner start to the season over in la Liga helping Atletico to win eight straight games and top of the league equal with Barcelona on 24 points.

Koke is under contract until 2018 with the capital club after just signing a new deal to remain in Spain, but United are desperate to strengthen their midfield and if Moyes decides Koke is the right man for the club he will at least offer the £16 million that will trigger his release clause.
