Manchester United must do everything in their power to keep goalkeeper David De Gea at Old Trafford this summer, even though they know Spanish giants Real Madrid have already got their sights on bringing the 24-year-old back to his home town according to football pundit Gary Neville.

He said on Super Sunday: “United need to try and keep him. If they’re not going to keep him, there’s only one club you can think of that is going to come in for him. United have got to take someone off them.

“He has settled down now and is performing fantastically well. He’s been the best player for United all season, and he’s a candidate for player of the season.”

These comments do bring up the possibility of perhaps a move for Gareth Bale by United if what seems inevitable happens and that is De Gea refuses a new contract at United and move to the Santiago Bernabeu when his contract is up in 2016.

A clear indicator of this happening is if Real Madrid signs a player like Petr Cech this summer knowing they have De Gea on board for the 2016/17 season.
