The Sunday Mirror is reporting that Manchester United have given up in their efforts of trying to sign Everton left-back Leighton Baines after hearing that the 29-year-old England international will sign a new three and a half year contract at Everton next week that will see him earn £75,000 per-week.

United’s best option now lies with Seville left-back Alberto Moreno who has just broken into the Spanish national team.

A move for the £18 million rated 21-year-old is unlikely to happen now until the summer, and with Spanish Giants Real Madrid also interested it could prove to be difficult for the Red Devils to sign him, and especially so if they should not qualify for the Champions League.
