It may seem like an awful lot of money for an English footballer, with Chelsea target John Stones first springing to mind, but while United would be interested in signing the Everton defender, their main problem at the moment is scoring goals, which is why according to the Daily Star United is willing to pay Tottenham £50 million for Harry Kane.

Manchester United is up there at the top of the Premiership, but manager Louis van Gaal knows that it is just a matter of time before his team’s lack of goals hurts them and want to remedy the situation this January be signing the England international.

According to the British tabloid the Red Devils have a lengthy dossier on Kane and have decided that given the fact he is only 22-year-old, not only could he solve their goal scoring problems now, but could very well be sold on for a huge profit a few years down the road.

Spurs also fancy their chances of a top-four finish this season, and would face a riot from fans if they sold Kane, yet the same thing was said when Gareth Bale went to Madrid and Daniel Levy still retains his position of club chairman, proving that he is always open to doing business if the price is right.
