Manchester United is given a Sunday Deadline to sign Italian international

Manchester United has been given a Sunday deadline to complete the transfer of Torino right-back Matteo Darmian after the Italians warn United they want to have all their summer transfer business completed before next Monday.

Louis van Gaal is apparently very keen to sign the 25-year-old Italian international after having been impressed by the way he handled Leighton Baines during England’s World Cup opener in Brazil.

Darmian was also seen as a replacement for Dani Alves at Barcelona before the Brazilian signed a new contract at the Nou Camp, and given his realistic price tag of £14.1 million United should move fast to get a deal done.

‘Everyone who arrives at Bormio will stay for the rest of the year,’ Cairo told Italian newspaper La Stampa.

‘Extra time has begun and on Sunday there will be the final whistle, that’s the deadline.

‘Three concrete offers have arrived for Darmian, but out of respect for those who made the offers I won’t reveal them.

‘An extraordinary player like Matteo will want to try and win the Champions League and Toro can’t win it.’
