According to Spanish sports newspaper AS Manchester United only has to worry about Real Madrid and Liverpool now as Barcelona has dropped out of the race for Porto right-back, Danilo after having learnt that Manchester United were already in advanced talks with the Portuguese club.

The Catalan giants had already earmarked the 23-year-old as the perfect replacement for Dani Alves, but with a Fifa ban on transfers till 2016 they are reconsidering letting the Brazilian, Alves leave the Nou Camp after manager Luis Enrique said he was not confident in playing Douglas Costa or academy star Martin Montoya in the first team.

This news will also come as a heavy blow to Liverpool who has been scouting the Porto defender for months after identifying him as the perfect replacement for Glen Johnson who is likely to leave Anfield in the summer due to the clubs policy on players over the age of 30.

But for now however it would appear as if Louis van Gaal has got just one of the many players he hopes to bring to Old Trafford next summer.
