Arsenal is according to reports ready to make a big offer for Spanish striker Alvaro Morata after having been impressed with his form for Juventus this season, and while Liverpool is also looking at Morata, the Gunners hope that Juventus will accept a bid that is considerably higher than the 20€ million the Italian club paid to Real Madrid for him last summer.

The 22-year-old has had to fight for a starting role in Massimiliano Allegri’s team beating out fellow Spaniard Fernando Llorente to partner Carlos Tevez up front for the Italian champions.

All this talk of a big bid could however come undone should Real Madrid take up their buy back clause that was inserted into the deal they did with Juventus, but as things stand it does not look like the Spanish giants are in a hurry to bring him back to the Santiago Bernabeu after what Los Blanco’s trainer Carlo Ancelotti told La Gazzetta dello Sport following Tuesday’s match-winning display. “He’s a young lad and it was he who expressed his desire to go where he could find more room and play more regularly.

“We’ve never regretted selling him. His departure was well considered, also because we’ve got some equally interesting young players coming through here. Take Jese, for example, who has returned from a serious injury.

“We do have a buy-back option on Morata, but I believe he’ll stay at Juve. He had plenty of offers, but it was him who chose Juventus.”

This is of course good news for Arsenal, yet it remains to be seen how Liverpool will respond to Arsenal’s interest in their summer target.
